Dymphna Boholt

Dymphna Boholt RKSTrav

Learning the value of investing at a very early age while working on a cattle station in Central Queensland, Dymphna Boholt has come a long way since the days when a single cow was her sole asset. Ms. Boholt — then just four years old — began building an asset portfolio by breeding her cow with other cattle until she had a herd of her own. Cashing on her investment, Ms. Boholt reinvested her earnings in education, using the profits from her herd to finance her accounting and economics degrees from Canberra University.

Ms. Boholt’s academic success led to ample professional opportunities, including an offer to join Coopers & Lybrand, one of the most prominent accountancy firms in all of Australia and indeed all of the world. Ms. Boholt accepted the offer and moved to Sydney, ultimately gaining professional experience in a wide range of industries that include finance, mining, liquor, and stockbroking. While Ms. Boholt naturally excelled in each of her roles, she eventually decided to pursue an entrepreneurial endeavor, founding Active Financial Answers, an accountancy practice that she ran until making the decision to pursue even greater prosperity through property investing.

After conducting a great deal of research on real estate and property investing, Ms. Boholt found inspiration from Dr. Dolf de Roos, a property investment expert known the world over for his exceptional approach to investing. Following a single year in which Ms. Boholt built an international property investment portfolio worth $3.5 million with $1.5 million in equity, Ms. Boholt was featured in Dr. de Roos’ popular book, “Secrets of Property Millionaires Exposed,” which ultimately led to Ms. Boholt’s next professional endeavor.

Having enjoyed immense success as a property investor, Ms. Boholt founded I Love Real Estate with the goal of sharing her vast property investment expertise with others looking to build a real estate property investment portfolio of their own. She has also written several books on a number of relevant subjects, including “Protect Your Assets.”

1. What is your favorite thing about traveling?

Traveling reminds me how important it is to make sure you have time that is all your own so you can explore new places and visit friends and family wherever they may be.

2. Is traveling a hobby or a lifestyle for you? How did you get started?

It’s probably most accurate to say that traveling falls somewhere in the middle of hobby and lifestyle, and I first got the travel bug after traveling to — and then living in — downtown Bangkok for a spell.

3. What is the most beautiful place you’ve been to?

Aside from my home on the Sunshine Coast of Australia, Tanzania is the most beautiful place I have ever been to.

4. Do you have any exciting travel dates planned for the future?

My family and I still have to nail down our plans, but we have discussed going to Bali, Hawaii or Madagascar.

5. What are some travel tips you’d give to someone inexperienced?

Take the time to really research potential locations before making a final decision so you can plan accordingly and feel comfortable in a place that might otherwise feel unfamiliar.

6. Where would you like to go?

I’m hoping that our next trip is to Hawaii, but I’m leaving the final decision up to the rest of the family.

7. Where would you like to revisit?

I’d like to go back to Bangkok, if only to visit some of the close friends I made during my time living there.

8. Do you travel alone? Why?

There was a time when I preferred to travel alone, but I love having my family with me wherever we happen to go.

9. If you could pick the top 3 places every person should go, what would they be?

East Africa is beautiful if you don’t mind a bit of rugged travel, and I would add Hawaii and Bali to the top three without hesitation.

10. Do you travel light or do you pack up the house?

I habitually over-pack, even while consciously trying to pack nothing but necessities.

Sam Ovens

OVENS International founder Sam Ovens delights in telling the story of how he so thoroughly disrupted the marketing industry when he first implemented his innovative marketing approach through his still-new digital marketing consulting firm. After transforming a number of clients in New Zealand and Australia into immediately recognizable and wildly profitable brands, Mr. Ovens decided to focus on sharing with others his newly developed and highly effective approach to consulting through the creation of e-learning programs detailing the strategies he used to earn more than $10 million over a four-year period.

As Mr. Ovens transitioned the focus of OVENS International from marketing consulting to e-learning programs, he also began an entirely new venture called SnapInspect. This new concept developed by Mr. Ovens revolved around a digital application capable of streamlining the process of property inspection to such a degree that the time needed to complete the inspection was reduced by 75 percent. The application quickly became popular and expanded its reach into 16 countries with a total user base exceeding 2,000 individual customers, allowing Mr. Ovens to sell the company for quite a tidy sum and for substantially more than he invested in it.

Mr. Ovens, who was born in New Zealand and grew up in Auckland, now resides in New York City, which is also the location of OVENS International’s primary offices. As a result of being so far from the country in which he was raised — not to mention the overwhelming success of his entrepreneurial ventures — Mr. Ovens has traveled extensively and visited some of the most remarkable destinations throughout both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Traveling for both business and pleasure, Mr. Ovens often points out his great fortune in being able to work from any location that happens to strike his fancy, citing one of the many benefits of building a business from the ground up and relying on nothing more than a sharp instinct for entrepreneurship.

1. What is your favorite thing about traveling?

It all depends on the purpose of the trip. Sometimes traveling allows me to visit family and friends, and other times it allows me to explore incomparable coral reefs while scuba diving.

2. Is traveling a hobby or a lifestyle for you? How did you get started?

I’d say it is definitely a lifestyle for me. I got started after I began securing clients in countries outside of New Zealand, and I began to travel with greater frequency once the business really took off and became so exceptionally profitable.

3. What is the most beautiful place you’ve been to?

Aitutaki — located in the Cook Islands — is the most beautiful place I have ever been to.

4. Do you have any exciting travel dates planned for the future?

I try to fly back to New Zealand a few times per year, and I’m due for a return trip fairly soon. It’s always exciting to head home for a visit.

5. What are some travel tips you’d give to someone inexperienced?

It is not always necessary to spend more than you can afford to have an enjoyable vacation. Even though I have the means to spend as much as I’d like, I can recall plenty of wonderful travel experiences in which I hardly spent a dime.

6. Where would you like to go?

I’d like to go to Egypt to see the pyramids, but it may be quite some time before I plan a trip to that region.

7. Where would you like to revisit?

I love to go swimming, fishing and diving in the Cook Islands, and I would like to visit there again.

8. Do you travel alone? Why?

I only travel alone when it is for business, and even then I sometimes bring a few friends along.

9. If you could pick the top 3 places every person should go, what would they be?

The two places I’ve called home — Auckland and New York City — are definitely must-see destinations. As for a third, I believe everyone should see the Amazon Rainforest or the Andean Mountain Range at least once in their life.

10. Do you travel light or do you pack up the house?

I travel very light simply to avoid the inconvenience of lugging so much stuff around. I’d rather just pick up whatever I need once I get to my destination.

I’ve been to Dublin a few times before and would enjoy taking a return trip some time in the future.

Most of my travel is done with a relatively sizable group of rugby players and members of the coaching and training staff, so when I am not traveling with the team I do enjoy traveling alone from time to time.

Tokyo, Japan; Dublin, Ireland; London, England.

10. Do you travel light or do you pack up the house?

Danny Loschiavo

The co-founder of BoldLeads, Danny Loschiavo became one of the country’s most successful young entrepreneurs by applying his unique skill set to an issue that had been plaguing real estate agents for quite some time. Recognizing that real estate agents spent far too much time pursuing leads of relatively questionable quality, Mr. Loschiavo developed BoldLeads with the goal of creating a means through which agents could build a self-replenishing pipeline of future clients while spending far less time doing so. It is for this reason that BoldLeads reviews its automated system with regularity to ensure its continued efficacy in securing high-quality leads for real estate agents, thereby allowing agents to focus on serving clients rather than securing them.

Mr. Loschiavo first became cognizant of this problem after observing his mother, Christine, struggle to expand her database of clients despite the overwhelming success she had achieved as a realtor. After several discussions regarding the manner in which she and most other real estate agents pursued and secured future client leads, Mr. Loschiavo recognized that there was a clear opportunity to streamline this process through the creation of a system that incorporated many different aspects of marketing, automation and CRM. That system ultimately became BoldLeads, with real estate agents all over the country now benefiting from the remarkable efficiency made possible through the platform created by Mr. Loschiavo.

The BoldLeads platform was not Mr. Loschiavo’s first foray into the world of real estate or entrepreneurship in general. As an undergraduate at Arizona State University, Mr. Loschiavo oversaw several entrepreneurial endeavors involving real estate while pursuing the degrees in business and global studies he would ultimately earn. Since graduating from ASU and co-founding BoldLeads, Mr. Loschiavo has been repeatedly recognized for his accomplishments and has been named among the “Top 35 Entrepreneurs Under 35.”

James Kappen

Renowned software entrepreneur and world traveler James Kappen has made a career out of his penchant for creative problem-solving, particularly as it relates to those problems so seemingly complex that the issue goes unresolved for quite some time despite the inherent frustration associated with its continued existence. Kappen, the founder and CEO of Proposable, has used his current venture to address an inefficiency that has plagued the global sales force for far too long, namely, the painful sales proposal process. Through Kappens efforts in creating the web-based platform at the heart of Proposable, sales professionals the world over can reap the reward of a streamlined system through which sales proposals can be designed, delivered, tracked and evaluated with an uncommon level of ease.

Kappen, a software entrepreneur known for his creativity and his consistently innovative approach, experienced how this particular inefficiency negatively affected so many aspects of his work responsibilities. With the creation of Proposable, a web-based sales proposal platform, Kappen felt sales staff would be able to devote more of their time and energy to creativity and customer service, an outcome that would be of clear benefit to all of the parties involved. The impetus, of course, was Kappens own frustrating experience in dealing with his own sales proposals.

A graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, Kappen holds a degree in economics and has been recognized as an expert in his field on a number of occasions. As the winner of the SproutBox Business Accelerator Program, Kappen was selected over thousands of other entrants and was therefore able to benefit from the guidance and insight provided by veteran investors and advisors. Through his unique combination of academic and entrepreneurial experience, along with access to exceptional mentoring from leading experts in their respective fields, Kappen brings a rare skill set to his role as founder and CEO of Proposable.

Ian Leaf

Ian Leaf is the founder and principal investigator of “Ian Leaf Fraud Watcher,” a comprehensive network of organizations specializing in preventing, detecting and resolving issues associated with the schemes carried out by fraudsters and scammers. Recognizing the increasing prevalence and sophistication of fraud across a wide range of circumstances, Ian Leaf contacted Ian Andrews, funding expert, to take the initial steps in creating a network of fraud prevention specialists designed to reduce the likelihood of consumers being targeted by fraudsters and scammers. It was this initial contact that led to Leaf’s venture expanding to include “Ian Leaf Tax Fraud Prevention and Investigation” as well as “Ian Leaf Fraudster Identification and Resolution.”

With Leaf and Andrews spearheading a campaign to snuff out fraud and fraudsters before consumers were adversely affected, awareness was raised regarding the need to adopt a greater focus on prevention rather than on resolution. Given the pair’s level of expertise and complementary skill set, Ian Leaf, HFC expert, and Ian Andrews, fraudster prevention specialist, have been able to achieve a great deal of progress in reducing the incidence of fraud and identifying the areas of weakness scammers are most likely to target in future schemes. Due to the inroads made by both Leaf and Andrews, demand for their services has risen substantially while the duo continues to educate and inform the public regarding the risks and vulnerabilities fraudsters and scammers may try to take advantage of sometime in the near future.

Proud of the progress made through “Ian Leaf Tax Fraud Prevention and Investigation,” Leaf and Andrews are nonetheless diligently researching new strategies aimed at reducing fraudulent behavior and scams targeting consumers. Leaf, a dedicated professional who works long hours in the service of the public, rarely indulges in anything that takes him away from his work, but world travel has often been the lone exception to this rule.
