Vikki Nicolai

Vikki Nicolai is a Wisconsin native from La Crosse, WI. She retired from a career in agricultural management, which she did well. She loves organic food and how it is produced. Another one of her pastimes includes outdoor activities such as gardening, hiking, and bird watching. She feels that recycling is something everyone should be doing.

In addition to traveling to various countries during her college years, she has been very blessed with the opportunity to travel through other parts of the country and the world visiting. So far, her favorite travel experience has been a semester studying abroad in Russia. Vikki Nicolai loves to explore new places and learn about different cultures. She always enjoys learning about the different cultures by visiting the countries with them.

Because Vikki Nicolai La Crosse WI is an avid traveler, she cites a study abroad trip to Russia as her favorite travel experience. She studied for a semester as an abroad student at the University of Agricultural & Life Sciences in Fakelgrad. She spent some time living in Moscow, Russia. She arrived in Moscow during colder times of year but still managed to take day trips out of the city and visit many other parts of Russia. She has been everywhere from Russia.

When she is not exploring new places or traveling to different countries, you will find her volunteering at La Crosse’s favorite thrift store—or taking part in an outdoor activity somewhere in the state of Wisconsin. She also loves to read, which is how she passes when she is not exploring or volunteering. She looks forward to sharing her experiences and adventures through her blog.

What is your favorite thing about traveling?

My favorite thing about traveling is getting to see new places. Seeing the scenery change and getting emersed in the cultures around the world is something everyone should do at least once in their lifetime.

Is traveling something you consider a hobby or a lifestyle? How did you get started?

I consider traveling a lifestyle. The best way to get started is just to start planning your first trip. Once it is all planned out and you board your first flight, you’ll want to start planning your next trip immediately.

Do you have any exciting travel dates or itinerary planned for the future?

My next trip will be to visit the Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro. This type of trip needs to be planned in advance and with Covid, the trip has been put on hold.

What are some travel tips you’d give to an inexperienced traveler?

My favorite travel tip is to first start traveling with a buddy. That way, there is always someone to help you plan your trip but also someone to make sure you enjoy it.

Where would you like to go?

Right now, I’d like to just drive cross country. Seeing the sites in the US would be great.

Where would you like to revisit?

I’d love to go back to Russia. It is and hopefully will always be my favorite place to visit.

Do you travel alone? Why?

I prefer to travel alone because it guarantees that I don’t have to stay on anyone else’s schedule. I prefer my own schedule so I can change it whenever I want.

If you could pick the top three places every person should go, what would they be?

The top 3 places everyone should visit would be Europe, Russia, and Japan.

Do you travel light or do you pack up the house?

I always travel light. If you need something, you can pick it up while you travel. It makes it easier (and less expensive) in the long run.
